The city has decided to open a facility to introduce the latest research results on the stratum of Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, which was named "Chibanian" in an era of the earth.
Approximately 770,000 years ago, the stratum of Ichihara City was registered as an "international standard", which is a geological standard representing one era of the earth, in January last year, and that era was named "Chibanian".
Ichihara City has introduced "Chibanian" as a temporary facility built near the site where this stratum is located, but decided to open a new facility in the future in order to attract more tourists. ..
The facility is a one-story building of about 1000 square meters and will introduce the latest research results on "Chibanian" as well as the characteristics of traces of the reversal of the earth's magnetic field.
In addition, we plan to make the slope of the course that walks along the river where the stratum is located gentle, and to create a space where you can observe the stratum up close.
This new facility construction work starts from this year over the total project cost about 1.5 billion yen, is scheduled to be opened in the prospect of five years.
