The Weeknd has not even been able to tour yet to defend his opus
After Hours which
he is already thinking of his successor.
Failing to perform on stage, the singer takes advantage of the time given by the confinement.
“I was more inspired and creative during the pandemic than I am normally on the road,” he
told TMRW
, adding that the subjects covered by the album will reflect this decidedly strange year 2020.
"The pandemic, Black Lives Matter, the tensions of the (American) election have created in me a feeling of gratitude for what I have and closeness to those who are close to me", he adds.
2021, the year of The Weeknd?
If 2020 saw The Weeknd triumph in the charts with After Hours, the artist was snubbed by the Recording Academy.
He wasn't nominated for any Grammy, leading him to accuse them of bribery.
He was supported by many, including Elton John, in his approach.
Could it be that 2021 is his year?
