"The Last Hero: The Root of Evil"

In the new year, the story of the miraculously escaped son of Ilya Muromets will continue on the screens of cinemas, who spent his adult life in modern Moscow, but learned his true destiny in the fabulous Belogorie.

In the new film, Ivan performed by Viktor Khorinak is trying to take his place among the heroes and fairy-tale creatures.

It is not easy for the hero to assimilate: he cannot live without technology, which he carries from the XXI century, and the lack of physical strength (against the background of good fellows) makes him feel complex.

Meanwhile, darkness is gathering over Belogorye again: the defeated Barbara returns with her foster mother, a sorceress, in whom Ivan recognizes his former housekeeper.

The sorceress was summoned by an ancient sorcerer.

For many centuries he has been waiting for the right moment to plunge Belogorie into darkness.

Together with Horinyak, Mila Sivatskaya, Ekaterina Vilkova, Sergey Burunov, Elena Yakovleva, Yuri Tsurilo, Elena Valyushkina and others returned to their roles.

The cast was joined by Kirill Zaitsev ("Moving Up"), young Marta Timofeeva ("Union of Salvation", "Abigail") and the star of the series "Deffchonki" Taisiya Vilkova.

"The horse Julius and the great races"

The Horse Julius and the Great Races is the tenth film shot within the framework of the Russian animation franchise Three Bogatyrs by the Melnitsa studio.

The film was directed by Darina Schmidt and Konstantin Feoktistov.

The latter previously worked on other cartoons in the series.

This time the events will unfold around one of the brightest figures in history - the talking horse Julia.

He already had a prominent role in one of the previous parts of the series - "Three Heroes: Knight's Move" 2015 release.

Now Julius has become the main character of the picture.

According to the plot, the hero falls in love with a royal mare and decides to woo, however, due to his origin, he is rejected by Sultan Rashid.

Julius decides to seek help from the prince of Kiev, but does not meet with support.

Then the horse steals the ruler and goes with him to the sultan.

The Hunt for Santa (Fatman)

As an actor, Mel Gibson became famous primarily for his participation in the action series Lethal Weapon and Mad Max, which defined his role for many years.

This time, the artist appears in a new image for himself - he played Santa Claus.

However, in the performance of Gibson, the hero turned out to be far from a fairy-tale character.

According to Variety author Owen Gleiberman, the new Santa could very well pass for a serial killer.

Kris Kringle lives on a farm with his wife Ruth and runs a Christmas gift shop.

His business is going through tough times as too many children misbehave (and therefore do not deserve gifts).

To stay afloat, the hero decides to cooperate with the government in the production of components for fighters.

At the same time, a hitman begins to hunt Chris.

He was hired by an offended child who found a coal in his sock instead of a gift.

However, he did not consider that Santa is immortal.

Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Secrets and Lies) and Chance Hurstfield (The Good Boys) also starred in the film.

The tape comes out marked 18+.

Rifkin's Festival

One of the most prolific directors in Hollywood, Woody Allen (he has directed over 50 feature films since 1966) continues to explore the problem of creative search in his new film.

Wallace Shawn played the main role in the film.

He has starred in Allen's films Manhattan and The Curse of the Jade Scorpion.

Film fan Mort Rifkin and his wife Sue (Gina Gershon) head to the San Sebastian Film Festival.

Sue goes to work, and Mort is in search of inspiration: he has been trying to write a novel for a long time.

However, art does not help the hero.

He considers all films of the program banal and overrated.

In addition, Mort notices that Sue is infatuated with the young director Philippe (Louis Garrel).

Against the background of these events, the hero's health worsens, and he makes an appointment with a doctor.

The doctor turns out to be a charming woman (Elena Anaya) who, moreover, fully shares the patient's views on art and also has a difficult relationship.

The meeting of a kindred spirit will push Mort to important changes.

“David Bowie.

Man from the Star "(Stardust)

Events of the biopic “David Bowie.

Man from the Star ”is set in 1971, when the British musician was 24 years old.

By this time, he had already performed and even managed to release several albums, but none of them made the artist a star.

In the early 1970s, Bowie invented the Martian alter ego Ziggy Stardust, which was a watershed moment in his career.

The lead role in the film went to Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, lead singer and songwriter, Johnny Flynn.

He has previously appeared on the screen in Once Upon a Time in New York and Emma.

The film will feature songs, including those performed by him.

"The very first Christmas" (Il primo Natale)

The Italian comedy "The Very First Christmas" tells an alternative background to one of the main Christian holidays.

According to the plot, the inhabitants of modern Italy - the atheist and thief Salvo and the priest Valentino - become eyewitnesses of the events that occurred more than two thousand years ago.

On the eve of the holiday, they are transferred to Palestine and find themselves in the "zero year".

The heroes have an important task - to save the baby Jesus.

The main roles in the film were played by Italian comedians Salvo Ficarra and Valentino Picone, representatives of the duet Ficarra and Picone, popular in their homeland.

They also acted as directors of the project, and also took part in the work on the script.

In Europe, the comedy was released last December and became one of the highest-grossing Italian films of the year.

"Happy to stay" (Adieu les cons)

Upon learning of a serious illness, 43-year-old Suzie goes in search of a child, whom she had to abandon 28 years ago.

The most difficult thing is to defeat the bureaucracy: according to the documents, she has no child, and Susie cannot prove the opposite.

The heroine agrees to help a depressed IT specialist, who himself found himself in a difficult situation (the man inadvertently started shooting in the office and became the target of the police department for combating terrorism).

The director of the film is Albert Dupontel, winner of the Cesar Prize for Goodbye Up There and 9 Months of High Security.

He also played one of the main roles.

According to film critic Fabien Lemercier, “Happy to Stay” is “a weighty and rather daring release, ideally matching the rebellious spirit of its director, who enters high-level cinema, disguising his creation as a rather restrained entertaining movie with jokes, frantic car chases, attempts to escape, collisions and amazing plot development ”.

Death of Me

Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed the second, third and fourth parts of the series of mystical films "Saw", is releasing another detective horror.

This time the action takes place on one of the Thai islands.

In the story, Christina and Neil wake up in a dirty, bloody room.

Soon they find a video, from which they learn that they drank a strange drink in the bar.

Then there was a conflict between them, as a result of which Neal killed Christina and buried her body.

According to foreign critics, Boseman's film is based on an interesting and original idea, but the film is replete with genre clichés and obvious references to other horror films - Rosemary's Baby and The Wicker Man.

Starring is the eldest of the Hemsworth brothers, Luke.

"Daughter of Darkness"

Another mystical film from the number of New Year's releases is the Russian film "Daughter of Darkness" directed by Rostislav Musaev ("Gerasim").

According to the director, his new project is not a pure horror, but a psychological thriller in which the filmmaker explores moral issues.

Mystical elements only add to the story.

“When Vadim Tartakovsky and I wrote the script, we added as many mystics as there is in life.

In the film, a lot is built on the fact that everyone sees something of their own, comes up with something, "- said the director in an interview with the ProfiCinema portal.

The events of the painting unfold in the past, without reference to a specific century.

The master's bride comes to the village.

With its beauty, it enchants all local residents, except for Ivan, whom people call blessed.

He alone considered the true appearance of the heroine, hidden behind her spectacular appearance.
