A 43-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of killing a 40-year-old near Rouen on Tuesday, a police source said on Wednesday.

Asked by AFP, the Rouen prosecutor's office simply confirmed that police custody was in progress for a "voluntary homicide" Tuesday evening in Darnétal, in the agglomeration of Rouen.

The suspect, who was drunk at the time of the facts, is the tenant of the premises where the tragedy took place, according to the police source.

The police intervened Tuesday around 6.30 p.m. on the scene at the request of the firefighters for an injured man.

The 44-year-old victim died when investigators arrived, according to the same source.

The follow-up to this custody will be communicated on Thursday evening, the prosecution said.
