Eight departments were placed on orange vigilance due to snowfall and storm Bella on Tuesday, Météo France announced in its 6 a.m. bulletin.

The departments concerned by this snow-ice alert are Puy-de-Dôme, Corrèze, Cantal, Aveyron, Lozère.

The Gers, the Landes and the Lot-et-Garonne are them for a flood alert.

This "remarkable" snowfall is "likely to significantly disrupt road traffic", warns Météo-France, which calls for vigilance.

Still 10,000 homes without electricity

If the intensity of the snowfall and the wind are decreasing, the showers persist this morning.

Snowfall is expected above 600 to 700m altitude in the western sector.

They are mainly concentrated on the Sancy massif, the Cantal Mountains and Aubrac, adding in places 5 to 10 cm of fresh snow by mid-morning.

For the remainder of Tuesday, the showers will continue, but mainly affecting the relief exposed to the west and of lesser intensity.

Monday evening, around 10 p.m., a little less than 10,000 homes remained without electricity throughout France, said the manager of the electricity network Enedis.

A previous report Sunday evening reported 34,000 homes without power in the east and center of the country.
