Sweden's largest film chain Filmstaden was closed between 18 March and 24 June.

At the end of November, the chain closed again with plans to open in February next year.

The next largest chain, Swedish cinema, has been open and currently plays for a maximum of eight people per screening.

The result of the closures is that the number of feature films that have had a cinema premiere in Sweden has decreased by almost 40 percent between 2019 and 2020, from 314 premieres in 2019 to 193 in 2020.

When it comes to Swedish film, the figures look similar: 44 Swedish feature films have gone to the cinema this year, compared with 68 in 2019.
