The number of people hospitalized and serious cases in intensive care due to Covid-19 has started to rise again, according to data published on Monday by Public Health France.

The health authority reports 24,645 current hospitalizations in the country, the highest since December 23.

The number of patients in intensive care is 2,694, 44 more than the day before, and again the highest level since December 23.

In 24 hours, 229 people were admitted to renimation.

France began its vaccination campaign on Sunday, with the hope of bringing down the circulation of the virus.

A test number that has become illegible

At a time when tests are less frequent, due to the end of year holidays, the number of recorded cases is relatively low according to SPF figures: 2,960 in 24 hours.

However, this daily figure has varied enormously since mid-December, fluctuating between some 3,000 and more than 21,000.

In recent weeks, it has stood at an average of around 12,000, a far cry from the government's target of dropping to 5,000.
