It is expected that from the 28th to the 31st, most areas of central and eastern China will start the "quick freezing" mode, ushering in a cold wave weather process.
This is also the highest level of cold wave warning issued by the Central Meteorological Observatory in the past four years.
This cold wave was called by many media as a "overlord" cold wave comparable to the 2016 cold wave.

"Overlord level" is a term given by the people to describe the intensity of the cold wave.
It can be said that this cold wave is the strongest cold wave since the beginning of winter this year (2020).
Compared with previous years, everyone also describes the "Overlord" cold wave, which is a relatively strong cold wave in 2016.
The cold wave occurred on January 21-25, 2016, which was basically the mid-winter season.
It should be said that its lowest temperature cannot reach that process, but its cooling rate is quite comparable to that process.
Compared with previous years (the same period), it should be a cold wave with stronger intensity.

From the eastern part of the northwestern region to most of the central and eastern part of our country, it can be said that except for the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau which has not been affected by it, most of our country has been affected by it.
The temperature in these places can drop to more than 10°C, such as the eastern part of Northwest China, northern China, western and northern China, as well as Jianghuai and Jiangnan.
In some places, it even reaches 14°C or even more than 16°C.
After the cold wave, most of my country's central and eastern regions will reach the lowest temperature since the beginning of winter.
The 0°C line of temperature and the -10°C line of temperature have reached the southernmost position since the beginning of winter this year.

From the southern part of North China to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, there will be some snowfall, sleet, or rain-to-snow. In some areas, the snowfall can reach the amount of moderate to heavy snow or even blizzard.
But there will be no such situation as freezing rain in 2008. The main reason is that its duration is relatively short. After the cold air on the 30th comes down, the rain and snow in the entire central and eastern part are basically over.

By the 31st, the influence of cold wave and gale cooling was basically over. However, since most areas of my country are still controlled by cold wave and high pressure, the minimum night temperature remained relatively low until early January (2021).
Even if it warms up after the cold wave, from the point of view of the temperature before the cold wave, it cannot be warmed up to the temperature before the cold wave.
It is not ruled out that this kind of cold wave will happen next winter or even spring.
