had barely been released in US theaters than Warner Bros.

confirmed to Variety that the third installment of the superheroine's adventures is in the works.

This announcement follows the very satisfactory scores achieved by

Wonder Woman 1984

released Friday in North America.

The film collected 16.7 million dollars (13.7 million euros) on the other side of the Atlantic during its first weekend of exploitation in some 2,100 theaters, which makes it the best start of the "coronavirus era", underlines the American site.

Streaming success

The result is all the more positive as the feature film was also uploaded on HBO Max.

According to Warner Bros., nearly half of the platform's 12.6 million subscribers viewed the film on Friday.

The studio specifies that the next

Wonder Woman

will be well exploited in theaters.

Patty Jenkins will be behind the camera again for this third installment, supposed to complete the trilogy.

But before that, the director will be in command of

Rogue Squadron

, a new project in the “Star Wars” galaxy.
