On December 26, a herder from Gerileaodusumusujigacha, Erlianhot City, Inner Mongolia, reported to the local border police station that a big black bird had arrived at home.

Identified by the police, the big black bird is a vulture, a national second-class protected animal. It generally lives in grasslands and Gobi and rarely visits human settlements.

According to Sun Jianguo, a policeman from the border police station in Grile Aodu, the vulture had no trauma, and it should have been a desperate situation that caused it to break into the herdsman’s home after the day’s cooling.

The police have sent the vulture to the Wild Animal Rescue Station of the Forest Public Security Bureau of Erenhot City.

On the 27th, the Xilin Gol Meteorological Bureau issued a cold wave blue warning: the temperature in Xilin Gol League will drop by more than 8°C in the next 48 hours, the temperature in the northern border area will drop to about -35°C, and the local temperature will exceed -40°C.
