The Reina Sofía Museum presents The Kind Cruelty. León Ferrari, 100 años, an exhibition that reviews the trajectory of the controversial Argentine artist on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. Died in Buenos Aires in 2013, Ferrari is considered one of the most important visual artists in the world, thanks to his provocative work, largely aimed at denouncing the abuses of power and intolerance in society. The exhibition, whose title corresponds to that of a book of poems and collages that the author published in 2000 and dedicated to his son Ariel, who disappeared during the Argentine dictatorship, is made up of around 300 works that explore various materials and idioms. These include the 15 collages, several drawings, a sculpture, a video and one of the Last Judgments from his series Excrementos, as well as 219 unique copies of objects and series, such as the installation La Justicia / V Centenario de la Conquista de América , which are part of the important donation made by the Ferrrari family to the Museum. The different pieces, which range from his first drawings, watercolors, sculptures ... to formal experimentation, the poetic, the conceptual and the political, are exhibited throughout several rooms. Where: Reina Sofía Museum (access from Calle Santa Isabel, 52). When: until April 12, 2021. How much: 5 euros (free entry from Monday to Saturday, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sundays, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.).
