[Explanation] Recently, four ship coffins were unearthed at the Dongsunba site in Chongqing. This is the second time that ship coffins were unearthed in Chongqing after 1957.

[Explanation] It is understood that ship coffin burial is a funeral custom of the Ba people. The "boat coffin burial" unearthed in Dongsunba is located on the third terrace on the left bank of the Yangtze River. The distribution area is about 10,000 square meters and the time span is the Warring States Period. Late to the Eastern Han Dynasty.

[Explanation] The reporter saw that although the ship coffin had been corroded during thousands of years of burial, the imprints left in the soil allowed the general shape of the ship coffin to be clearly presented to people.

Unearthed along with the ship coffin, in addition to all kinds of bronze cooking utensils, in the ship coffin, there are also weapons of the Ba people who are famous for martial arts.

On-site archaeology person in charge Dai Yubiao told reporters that most of these boat coffins are made of a whole piece of nanmu. One-third of the nanmu is cut to make a coffin lid, and the middle of the remaining two-thirds of the wood is hollowed out and left. The bottom is made into a coffin body.

The Dongsunba site is the earliest recognized Ba cultural site in China. Especially the unearthed batch of tombs from the Warring States to the Han Dynasty represented by the "boat coffin burial" is of irreplaceable value for exploring the characteristics and evolution of Ba cultural in Sichuan and Chongqing.

It can be continued from the late Warring States period to the Eastern Han Dynasty. This is a process of continuous development. In terms of the unearthed artifacts, most of the tombs are well preserved, so the funeral objects are in a system and the combination is relatively complete. For our research This tomb itself, as well as the tomb system and funeral customs embodied in the tomb at that time, played a very important role.

[Explanation] According to reports, a total of 28 tombs and 1 brick kiln were found in the excavation area. The main remains are the Ba cultural tombs from the late Warring States period to the early Western Han Dynasty.

Up to now, 4 "ship coffin burials", 11 rectangular earth pit tombs, 1 square earth pit tomb, and 1 brick chamber tomb have been cleared. The era covers the late Warring States, Qin, early Western Han, and Xinmang periods. At this stage, more than 200 pieces (sets) of various cultural relics including bronze, pottery, glazed and ironware were unearthed.

The Dongsunba tomb must have a corresponding address, that is, where to live, we need to find a place that matches the size of the Dongsunba tomb.
