Eight departments were placed in orange vigilance by Meteo-France for the day of Monday, according to the forecasts of the public establishment released on Sunday.

Snow and ice are expected in Aveyron, Cantal, Corrèze, Lozère and Puy-de-Dôme, while a phenomenon of "waves-submersions" will affect Corse-du-Sud, the Landes and the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

Despite the low values of tidal coefficients, the “wave-submersions” phenomenon associated with storm “Bella” will be remarkable and will affect the coasts of the Atlantic seaboard, with particularly powerful waves on the Aquitaine coast.

12,000 homes were deprived of electricity

At the end of the Sunday afternoon, the disturbance linked to "Bella" arrives in the west of the Massif Central with snow above 600 to 700 m, which will fall heavily in the evening and become general.

These snowfalls will be very intense in the first part of the night from Sunday to Monday and associated with a stormy wind, which will lead to the formation of snowdrifts and significant accumulations in the mountains.

In the second part of the night and during the day on Monday, snowfall will continue above 600 / 800m, still in the presence of wind, even if it will become less marked.

Another consequence of the storm, a little more than 12,000 homes were deprived of electricity on Sunday in Brittany and Normandy, and up to 6,000 were in the North and Pas-de-Calais, following the passage from Storm Bella.

Sunday evening, Enedis announced a "return to normal on the electricity network" in Brittany, "scheduled for 8 pm in Finistère, Morbihan and already effective in the other departments since 5 pm".
