A few days ago, a group infection broke out in Huaian Section of the United Hospital. A total of 19 people have been diagnosed or initially diagnosed. The authorities will issue a mandatory test announcement.

  The 70 new cases involved 34 men and 36 women, ranging in age from 8 months to 92 years old.

One case was temporarily classified as an imported case. The confirmed case arrived in Hong Kong from the United Kingdom on the 7th of this month, returned home after completing the quarantine, and was diagnosed when he was tested again on the 19th day as required.

Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, said that the confirmed patient had eaten with his family after returning home, so he also had the opportunity to be infected locally.

  Of the remaining 69 local cases, there are 23 cases without source.

One of the cases involved a Vietnamese national. After being arrested by the police in Ta Kwu Ling on the 21st, the patient was held in solitary confinement at Sheung Shui and Ta Kwu Ling Police Stations. He was tested when he was transferred to the Qingshan Bay Immigration Center on the 25th. Was positive.

Zhang Zhujun said that the source and whereabouts of the patient's infection are temporarily unknown, but two people are detained together in the Qingshan Bay Detention Center. They are listed as close contacts and must be quarantined.

  A few days ago, the Huai'an Section of the United Hospital had an outbreak of group infections, and a total of 19 people have been involved so far, including 12 patients and 7 staff.

Zhang Zhujun said that the authorities will issue a mandatory test announcement, requiring all people who have visited the intensive care unit and 2D ward of the United Hospital between December 15 and 27, including employees, visitors, and patients, to be tested for the virus.

  Liu Jiaxian, Chief Administrative Manager (Quality and Standards) of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, added that the authorities encourage all UHC staff to undergo testing. Mobile sampling stations will be set up at courts adjacent to the hospital to facilitate employees’ testing. The sampling stations will be operational from tomorrow. Until December 31.

  Liu Jiaxian announced that there are currently 901 confirmed patients in 23 public hospitals and AsiaWorld-Expo community treatment facilities. Among them, 55 are in critical condition, 68 are in serious condition, and 778 are in stable condition.
