According to Hong Kong media reports, on December 27, the Hong Kong police wanted about 30 Hong Kong rioters overseas for allegedly violating the Hong Kong National Security Law, including former legislators who were declared "in exile" in Denmark in early December and then transferred to the United Kingdom. Xu Zhifeng, in mid-December announced that he would apply for asylum in the United States, Liang Songheng, who was deprived of membership of the Legislative Council, Zhang Kunyang, former spokesperson for the "Non-People Diplomacy Network", and Liang Jiping, the former editor-in-chief of the Hong Kong University Student Union publication "Xue Yuan".

It is reported that the wanted person is suspected of inciting secession or colluding with foreign countries, endangering national security, or participating in activities deemed illegal under the Hong Kong National Security Law. The maximum penalty for related crimes is life imprisonment.

Most of those wanted are in Europe, the United States and Taiwan.

As some Western countries have suspended their extradition treaties with Hong Kong, some people are unlikely to return to Hong Kong via deportation channels, but they will be arrested as soon as they return to Hong Kong.
