Sunday begins the vaccination in France in nursing homes, with this question in everyone's mind: how to obtain the consent of the 600,000 residents?

Romain Gilzome, director of the Association of Directors in the Service of the Elderly, was the guest of Europe 1 on Saturday and described the challenges that arise when starting the campaign.

INTERVIEW

The first doses of the coronavirus vaccines arrived this Saturday in France under high protection.

The nursing homes are on the front line of the vaccination which should begin on Sunday in two establishments: the hospital of Sevran in Seine-Saint-Denis and that of Dijon.

Like a large part of the French population, some elderly people are reluctant to be vaccinated.

"We will have to deal with this mistrust," says Romain Gilzome, Director of the Association of Directors in the Service of the Elderly, at the microphone of Europe 1 on Saturday.

"Like any public health system, it must be accompanied by a lot of education and information", continues Romain Gilzome.

According to a survey published in mid-December, if a third of nursing home residents are ready to be vaccinated, another third is still hesitant and a last rather reluctant.

"The ministry sent a certain number of elements which will allow professionals to explain what this vaccine is, how it works, what is the benefit, etc."
