(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Hong Kong Chief Executive: Ensure that the airport maintains defense lines to reduce the risk of virus introduction

China News Service, Hong Kong, December 26. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, visited the Hong Kong International Airport on the 26th to inspect the implementation of the quarantine measures implemented by various departments on arrivals in Hong Kong. He also said that he would ensure that the airport is under the risk of the global epidemic. We must guard the line of defense to reduce the risk of virus introduction.

On the same day, Carrie Lam inspected the Hong Kong International Airport and then transferred to the temporary hospital under construction next to the Asia World-Expo (Asia Expo) to learn about the progress of the project.

Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, accompanied by the Director of the Food and Health Bureau of the Special Administrative Region Government Chen Zhaoshi, the Secretary for Transport and Housing Chen Fan, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Airport Authority Lin Tianfu, was transferred to the airport midfield passenger terminal to conduct various checks and virus tests on arrivals. He listened to the staff of the Port Health Section of the Department of Health of the Special Administrative Region Government to introduce the quarantine procedures currently concentrated in this place.

Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said that in the past year, through summing up experience, various units have continuously improved, and implemented a series of strengthening measures at the airport to ensure that every link is leak-proof, and at the same time provide better services for passengers.

She thanked the Airport Authority for its comprehensive cooperation and the unremitting efforts and hard work of the airport staff for their contributions to the "external defense import".

Carrie Lam and his entourage then went to the temporary hospital under construction next to the Asia Expo to inspect the progress of the project.

This project is another major project of the central government to support Hong Kong's fight against the epidemic following the completion and opening of the AsiaWorld-Expo community treatment facility in early October.

The project was specifically implemented by the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Shenzhen Municipal Government. The project has been progressing smoothly so far. The ceiling has been capped at the end of last month. It will be delivered to the Hong Kong Hospital Authority in late January next year to prepare for use. It can provide more than 800 negative pressure beds and related medical facilities.

Carrie Lam thanked the Chinese construction engineering team and thousands of employees for their hard work day and night.

She said, “The temporary hospital will greatly enhance our ability to respond to the epidemic, and the new technology introduced by the hospital project will also be of great reference value for our future work.” (End)
