To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, metropolitan zoos and aquariums such as Ueno Zoo will be temporarily closed from December 26th to January 11th of the new year.

The four facilities that will be temporarily closed are the Ueno Zoo, Tama Zoological Park, Kasai Rinkai Aquarium, and Inokashira Park Zoo.

Initially, the park was scheduled to open from January 2, but this time the park will be closed at the beginning of the year after the start of the year-end closure has been advanced.

The period was 17 days from 26th to 11th January, which was 13 days longer than originally planned.

The park is open only on the 24th and 25th of the year, but advance reservations are required for Ueno Zoo and Kasai Rinkai Aquarium.

Other metropolitan facilities have also decided to temporarily close the park or stop using it one after another, and the city wants you to check the website of each facility in advance.

On the other hand, the observation room of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building was open from the morning of New Year's Day for customers watching the first sunrise of the year, but it has already been closed from the 23rd.

The closure will continue until January 11th.

The city plans to broadcast the first sunrise of the year from the observatory on its website from 6:40 am to 7:15 am on New Year's Day.
