  Guangzhou Art Museum (referred to as "Guangzhou Art Museum") evolved from the Guangzhou Art Museum, which was established on February 11, 1957.

As of December 31, 2019, the Guangzhou Art Museum has a total of 32,883 pieces (sets), more than 70,000 pieces (sets) of physical objects, including 118 pieces (sets) of first-level cultural relics, 1845 pieces (sets) of second-level cultural relics, and third-level There are 2,570 pieces (sets) of cultural relics. The total number and quality of collections are among the top art museums in the country. It is the museum with the largest number of cultural relics above the third level among the museums in Guangzhou.

  Guangzhou Art Museum has not only the rich and exquisite Chinese paintings and calligraphy of the past decades accumulated by the Guangzhou Art Museum, but also various works of art donated by a group of famous contemporary artists and collectors.

Collection categories include Chinese paintings, calligraphy, gouache, watercolors, oil paintings, prints, comics, propaganda posters, inscriptions, sculptures, pottery, paper-cutting, wood carvings, bronzes, ceramics, jade, stoneware, foreign cultural relics, foreign stamps, Japanese calligraphy, etc.

In addition, the works of famous Lingnan calligraphy and painting masters, especially the Lingnan School of Painting, are also one of the collection features of Guangzhou Art Museum.

  According to reports, among the fourth batch of national first-, second- and third-level museums released by the Chinese Museum Association a few days ago, eight museums in Guangzhou were selected.
