The filming team of the

H24

series

has moved to the International, in the heart of the Oberkampf district, in Paris.

It is dark when we join them, but the atmosphere inside is warm: many women and a few men are chatting, laughing, and later exchanging a glass of champagne.

One would almost have the impression of finding the atmosphere of a neighborhood bar, if we hide the masks and barrier gestures.

An atmosphere full of solidarity and sorority which is perhaps not foreign to the subject of the Arte series.

H 24, 24 h de la vie d'une femme (24 hours in the life of a woman)

are 24 stories of women, told in a two to three minute mini-format.

24 “various facts”, even if the word is not quite right, shot each time at a specific time, through the eyes of 24 writers known for their feminism: Alice Zeniter, Lola Lafon, Anne Pauly, Chloé Delaume, Christiane Taubira, Agnès Desarthe, Kerry Hudson, Siri Hustvedt… And 24 actresses.

"Straight and worthy"

It is Camille Cottin who plays that day Marie Laguerre, this young woman whose story made the rounds of the newspapers in July 2018. Exasperated by the noises with sexual connotations and the comments thrown behind her back by a man, she dares then say "shut up" to him.

He throws an ashtray at her, without reaching it.

She gets up and confronts the assailant, who hits her in the face.

The surveillance footage of this assault raised many reactions of indignation, just days before the adoption of the law against sexist outrages, which punishes what is commonly called “street harassment”.

"What interested us is that this woman does not let it go, we did not want 24 victims" comments Nathalie Masduraud, one of the two directors and directors of this collection of small films.

The film is also titled

Right and Digne

, using remarks by Marie Laguerre.

“There are a lot of things that touch me in this story.

I am happy to be able to translate this revolt, this uprising, ”comments Camille Cottin.

The directors Nathalie Masduraud and Valérie Urréa, from the documentary world, joined forces for this episode, the writing of which was entrusted to the Algerian writer Kaouther Adimi, a third director, Emilie Brisavoine: “I am impressed by this woman and her gesture that defies her fear, an ancestral fear, the law of silence, ”she comments.

For the director of

Pauline tears off

, Camille Cottin is the ideal actress to embody this type of character: “She gives off something super powerful.

"Feminist International"

Other actresses participate in this series, such as Diane Kruger, Souheila Yacoub, Déborah Lukumuena, Aloïse Sauvage, Laetitia Dosch, Valeria Golino, and Florence Loiret-Caille.

The directors congratulate themselves on having created a kind of “feminist international”, with all these committed writers and actresses.

Among the guest directors, Alice Diop, Sandrine Bonnaire, Ariane Labed, Clémence Poesy, Charlotte Abramow and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.

The directors had the idea for this series by discovering the story of a woman defenestrated by her companion.

The Victims Guarantee Fund had refused her full compensation because in her eyes she had "contributed to her own damage" by returning home on the evening of the tragedy for lack of accommodation.

"One morning you hear a broadcast on the radio, yet another feminicide, and that morning you are fed up", comments Nathalie Masduraud.

"We wanted to give the floor to the anonymous," adds Valérie Urréa.

Both came from the documentary, this time they wanted fiction, to "give these stories a more universal dimension".

And to make things happen, without question.

“We would like things to change.

Let people become aware, ”says Nathalie Masduraud, who is sorry that the latest figures on the number of victims of domestic violence are on the rise.

The expected effects are already noticeable, she adds: “Within the team, it triggered the speech.
