The festival unveils its new “Afesh” version

The Luxor African Film Festival has revealed its 10th edition of “Afish”, which will be held from 12 to 18 March 2021 in Luxor Governorate under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

The "tapestry", taken from a painting by the great Egyptian artist Ismat Dostashi, expresses African beauty and charm, through the face of a girl with a mixture of Egyptian folk themes.

Artistically directed by the artist Mohamed Hesham, who celebrated the poster number (10) for the session in golden yellow colors, as well as placing a film tape as a crown on the face of the African girl.

The festival’s president, scriptwriter Sayed Fouad, announced in a press statement yesterday that the Film Selection Committee is nearing completion of its work, noting that the committee includes director Imad Al-Bahat, critic Osama Abdel Fattah, writer and critic Farouk Abdel Khaleq, director Bechara Shukry, and critic Marwa Abu Eish.

32 countries from the African continent and 10 countries from outside the continent are participating in the "Diaspora" competition and some other activities.

The festival director, director Azza al-Husseini, announced that the festival’s Supreme Committee had finally met, in the presence of artist Mahmoud Hamida, producer Gabi Khoury, director Sherif Mandour, artist Salwa Muhammad Ali, and artist Sabri Fawaz, to discuss the final touches of the artistic plan for the new session.

She explained that the 10th edition will carry many artistic surprises, hosting the icons of African cinema during the first decade of his life, including Haile Grima, Reda El-Bahi, Jimmy Lowe, Moussa Touré, Suleiman Cisse, Tastsi Dungara, Hend Sabry, and many stars.
