When we hear the name Malta, we remember two proverbs, the first “as if it went hand in hand in Malta”, and the second “it came after the devastation of Malta.” I tried to find out the origin of the two parables, but I did not find a fully documented source except for stories that may be wrong or true, as for the first example, it is said that when The Ottomans colonized it, they used to call the call to prayer, and because the people of Malta are a Christian, not one of them responds to the call to prayer. As for the second example, when the French occupied Malta, they sought help from the Ottomans, but they were preoccupied with other colonial wars, and they did not help the people of Malta, and when they sent relief it was two years later, when the French destroyed Malta And they sabotaged it.

Hence, when relief comes after it is too late, we say it has come after the devastation of Malta.

Malta has realized that the real investment is in people, and that high-quality education is its way to competitiveness and even surpass the richest countries, and it has already begun to reap the fruits of what it has planted, as it is now ranked fifth among the 27 European Union countries in the Digital Learning Index for life, and soon It will surpass Finland and much of the world in the quality of the pre-university education system, as it has developed radical and effective solutions to link educational outcomes with the labor market.

And through the Education Compass program, Malta will change the unified education system in which everyone enrolls and studies the same curricula using the same methods, to be replaced by an education system that takes into account individual differences and preferences, and thus students will find many opportunities for selection and learning, and teachers will be prepared to be able to make the experience successful, and they have been involved Employers and institutions in the formulation of educational outcomes and their quality standards, taking into account the needs of the future with all its changes and surprises.

The most important thing in this project is not to focus on the technology side only, but focus on character building, or what is called Character Education, in order to prepare a generation with values and principles and not just machines for memorization and interest in science only without focusing on the ethical and behavioral side.

Malta respected the minds and experiences of its children, so it entrusted the famous thinker, Edward de Bono, to lead the team working on reformulating and developing its system. It also sought expertise from several countries such as Sweden, Austria, Singapore, Scotland, Finland and England. I was honored to be one of the These experts are part of a team of more than 40 experts, including the former president of Malta, as well as the Minister of Education and Employment, and the Under Secretary.

De Bono's thinking styles were used in directing forum sessions and meetings.

From what I saw during this experience, I can say that there will be no devastation in Malta again, but rather every progress, science, learning and work that will attract attention in the near future.
