The Minister for Citizenship Marlène Schiappa, for her part, indicated that she was sending the prosecutor a report on the basis of article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which requires any public authority to report an offense of which it is aware.

The Miss France contest "is not an anti-Semitism contest," added Marlène Schiappa on Twitter.

TF1 condemns and Miss France supports her runner-up

April Benayoum, who finished runner-up on the popular show, was the target of numerous anti-Semitic comments on social media after revealing her father was of Israeli descent.

"TF1, EndemolShine France and the organization Miss France strongly condemn the hateful and anti-Semitic remarks made last night on social networks against Miss Provence", bringing "all (their) support to Miss Provence, first Dauphine.

"

Asked Sunday on BFMTV, Amandine Petit, elected Miss France, found "extremely disappointing" these "inappropriate remarks" aimed at her runner-up, to whom she gave her "support".

Associations and elected officials of all stripes have multiplied indignant reactions on twitter.

"Appointment in court for the tweeters who last night turned Twitter into an anti-Semitic cesspool", the Licra promised, inviting Internet users to report the content on its site in order to carry out "group action".

The Union of Jewish Students of France (UEJF) denounced "a competition of anti-Semitism".

Indignation on the right and on the left

On the right, the LR president of the region, Paca Renaud Muselier, gave his support to a Miss "French, of Italian and Israeli origin, Provencal, from the south" and who "perfectly represents our region and our country".

On the left, the national secretary of the PCF Fabien Roussel wondered: “Twitter accomplice?

"Recalling that" anti-Semitism, racism are offenses since the Gayssot law ".

For LFI MP Clémentine Autain, "in this matrix of violence, the Jewish people are hated for the sole reason that they are Jewish".

“Unbearable anti-Semitism.

Do not let anything pass ", underlined the former Prime Minister Manuel Valls, while the PS Senator Rachid Temal condemned" all these cowardly anonymous fascists ".

The elected RN (and member of the office) Julien Odoul estimated that "massive immigration and the lack of assimilation can therefore rot a Miss France contest", while the MEP Gilbert Collard affirmed that "really, these dirty assholes make everything dirty!
