Xinhua News Agency, Lanzhou, December 20 (Reporter Lang Bingbing) The reporter learned from the Gansu Provincial Department of Transportation that on the 20th, the Huama Bridge in Dangchang County, Longnan City, Gansu Province was completed and opened to traffic, marking the most devastated by floods and mudslides in Gansu. The serious national highway 212 line runs through.

According to reports, National Highway 212 passes through the five provinces of Ganchuan, Chongqing, Guizhou and Guizhou, and is an important traffic artery connecting the southwest and northwest.

In August this year, torrential floods and mudslides occurred in many places in Longnan City, Gansu Province, resulting in varying degrees of damage to many roads in the territory.

Due to the topographical conditions, the National Highway 212 built by the mountains and rivers was particularly damaged.

Among them, the abutment and approach road of Huama Bridge in Lianghekou Town, Dangchang County were washed away, and traffic was interrupted for a time, which seriously affected the safety of surrounding people's travel and post-disaster reconstruction.

After the disaster, the highway department of Gansu Province, on the one hand, made every effort to clear some of the damaged road sections, and on the other hand, immediately initiated the restoration and reconstruction plan for the severely damaged road sections.

The restoration and reconstruction of Huama Bridge on National Highway 212 was included in the first phase of the project, and construction started on October 1, and it was officially opened to traffic on December 20.

The total length of the bridge’s span has been increased from the original 60 meters to 70 meters, increasing the flood discharge section and reducing the damage to the bridge caused by floods.

As the end of the year is approaching, the full completion of the water-damaged section of National Highway 212 will also provide traffic protection for the upcoming passenger flow and logistics peak.
