• The best series marathons for December

That many of us get more nerdy at Christmas is a proven fact.

That we shoot, to accentuate the sensation, of films that make us corny or take us back to childhood such as 'Little Women', 'Love Actually', or 'The Princess Bride', more than proven.

Now, with the series universe at our entire disposal, the range of stories available to put us 'full time' in 'Easter mode' has been significantly enriched.

Here are some suggestions to avoid getting lost in the tinsel maze.

A Christmas Carol (HBO)

Impossible to ignore in one of its many versions, the famous

Dickens

tale

.

His latest (and expensive) incarnation debuted last year with

Guy Pearce

at the helm as producer and standing up for the obnoxious Ebenezer Scrooge.

Throughout three episodes we will see the evil man meet the ghost of Christmas past, present and future.

The creator,

Stephen Knight

('Peaky Blinders'), takes some liberties with the story to take the evil of Scrooge further (or perhaps, on the contrary, closer, because the evil of the protagonist can seem a bit 'bland' to today's viewers) that are opinionable (primarily Scrooge's relationship with women) but in any case, bringing a Dickens home for Christmas is always a good idea.

Merry Christmas and Stuff (Netflix)

In 'Merry Christmas and those things' family entanglements are the crux of the matter.

Eight recently released chapters of a series that makes its intentions very clear already in the title and that brings us back to

Dennis Quaid,

whom we had not seen for a long time.

A series about a normal family (you know, one of those where everyone loves each other very much at the same time that they throw some pujas from here I hope you) that meets for Christmas.

The little daughter comes home without nougat, but with a new boyfriend, which of course will not make the patriarch (Quaid) very funny, who turns out to be a pretty inflexible guy, but, you know, deep down with a heart of gold.

Good Omens (Amazon Prime)

If what we are looking for is a supernatural comedy, which at this time also hits a lot, there is 'Good Omens' (6 episodes) where a fussy angel and a party devil conspire to prevent the end of the world, for the account that brings them (They have become fond of living on Earth and are not at all motivated by the prospect of returning one to boring heaven and another to uncomfortable hell).

In order to carry out their purpose, they must find the Antichrist, an 11-year-old boy who has no idea, of course, that he is going to end the world.

A humor with which it is sometimes difficult to connect, not so with the protagonists, two actors:

David Tennant and Michael Sheen.

As if that were not enough, the great

Frances McDormand

is God, in her role as storyteller.

Secrets for Christmas (Netflix)

'Secrets for Christmas' is a Norwegian series about the dramas of three generations of women.

Not everything Christmas was going to be 'hee hee-hahaha', here's the proof.

In this intimate three-part German miniseries, the personal dramas of the three women from the same family who meet at Christmas are addressed.

The story spans almost a century, during which each generation will face the challenges of life in its own way, with its mandatory dramas, sacrifices, wrong decisions ... What do these three women have in common?

What differentiates them?

An ideal series for those who want to spend their Christmas recapping their own life.

Christmas at Home (Netflix)

Johanne is determined to find the ideal man in 'Homemade Christmas'.

There are people who put all their hopes in Christmas, either in the lottery or in some supernatural phenomenon that turns their lives around.

For example, Johanne, the protagonist of this Norwegian series (6 episodes), a thirty-year-old determined to find a boyfriend in less than a month to introduce him to her parents for Christmas.

Obviously, the tone of the series is comedy.

Parade of handsome boys like that 'claim' in fashion in the 80s (you have to see how times change): "Before finding the enchanted prince you have to kiss a lot of toads".

Christmas Days (Netflix)

This national product released last year (three episodes) explores family ins and outs, dramas and secrets that keep our relationships with those we love the most, and it does so through the journey of the lives of four sisters who meet each year to celebrate Christmas in three different moments of their lives: in adolescence, adulthood and old age.

The female cast is impressive:

Victoria Abril, Alicia Borrachero, Ángela Molina, Elena Anaya, Nerea Barros, Berta Castañe, Verónica Echegui, Verónica Forqué, Anna Moliner ...

Dark Matter (HBO)

Everything about this series (15 episodes), which recently premiered its second season, has a nosequé that makes it especially Christmassy.

Could it be that there is a lot of snow, or a talking white bear, or that the protagonist is a girl, the fabulous Lyra Belacqua (played by

Dafne Keen).

Based on the bestseller by

Philip Pullman,

it is a fantastic series of adventures, retro-futuristic and cool, where the evil one, Mrs. Coulter, shines with her own light,

played by

Ruth Wilson

(who by the way already played a memorable psychopath in the 'Luther' series).

I see it super Christmas, despite the lack of Christmas carols.

The Disobedient Angel (Netflix)

The protagonist of the series in the offices of the angelic ministry.

This eight-episode Brazilian comedy imagines a guardian angel, Uli, turning the strict bureaucratic system of the angelic organization upside down.

Nothing more 'born' will break something, and from there, up.

Chaotic and fun, he will intervene in human affairs by breaking all the rules, and will drive his peers crazy.

An atypical fantasy comedy full of hilarious situations.

The actor who gives life to its protagonist,

Victor Lamoglia,

embroiders it.

The series has earned an Emmy this year.
