In keeping with the mood of the past year, 2020 will end with a final away from the usual.
Germany is in the second lockdown, the time from Christmas to New Year's Eve should be spent with caution and largely alone - instead of, as before, contemplative with a large circle of friends and family.
Nevertheless, those who, contrary to tradition, celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve alone or only with their partner should get dressed up - because that cheers them up.
It creates a contrast to the many home office days that one spent at home without make-up and in a jogging suit.
With an extra layer of glitter in fashion and make-up, at least a little distraction from the fact that you won't meet the family on the holidays.
And by the way, you spread a glamorous atmosphere again in your home, which during the year has mutated into a home school and a “pop-up playground”.
But you have to take the time to revive your make-up routine - in order to mark the end of this extraordinary year with an equally extraordinary holiday look.
Ten renowned make-up artists explain which products are best for this and how to apply them correctly.
Golden Cleopatra eyes
Wearing gold on the entire lid is the recommendation of the professional label Mac Cosmetics for Christmas

An eyeshadow belongs on the lid, of course.
But what if you want to apply it to your eyebrow?
Luisa Sporkenbach, National Artist at Mac, has detailed instructions:

“First apply a primer with your index finger on the movable lid and then spread the rest of the eye primer over the entire lid.
It is best to use a flat but relatively fluffy brush to apply the 'Dazzleshadow Object D'Art' * from Mac to the movable lid.
Then continue to work with the eyeshadow from the movable eyelid towards the eyebrow, temple and inner corner of the eye.
Use the kohl side of the 'Dual Dare All Day' eyeliner * to blacken the waterline and lower lid and apply the eyeliner with a brush.
The kajal can be blended very easily at first, but it becomes firm after a short time and thus holds very well.
Then apply mascara. "
Highlighter against wrinkles
Loose powders are often unpopular with beauty laypeople, especially those over 30, as they can quickly become too thick and thus accentuate wrinkles.
Nicolas Degennes, Art Director of Givenchy Beauty, therefore recommends using the highlighter:
"This powder does not settle in the fine lines and does not dry out the skin.
A little tip: use a brush to dab some of the powder on the corners of your eyes to look even fresher.
Givenchy * 'Prisme Libre' can be applied directly over the day cream to gently mattify, smooth, improve and brighten the skin.
After applying the foundation, the loose powder also mattifies the T-zone.
For the evening, I recommend choosing a pink tone for the complexion, such as 'Pink Harmony Voile Rosé' *.
Because a rosé tone will make the skin look more natural under artificial light. "
Eye shadow for every eye color
You should dare to mix new eyeshadow colors, like model Natalia Vodianova in the Guerlain campaign

Eye shadow palettes that combine many different tones are a nice gift.
The reality is that you often only use one tone on a regular basis.
This is why Katharina Glassl, National Make-up Artist of Guerlain, advises trying something new:
“It would be perfect to use the eyeshadow to go in the complementary direction of the eye color - as this makes the eyes glow and emphasizes the eye color.
So with green eyes you go in coppery nuances.
With blue eyes, on the other hand, you go in a brownish direction.
And with brown eyes you have a free choice - blue eyeshadow nuances are perfect, but green and gold tones also work very well on brown eyes.
If you want to try as much as possible, you will find ten different eyeshadow tones in the 'Golden Bee' palette from Guerlain *. "
Anti-dark circles trick
2020 was a tiring year.
That is why it is important not only to cover the dark circles, but also to use the refreshing effect on other parts of the face, advises Barbara Mondelli, beauty expert at La Mer trainer:

“To make the skin in general shine, not just the eyes, I recommend 'The Hydrating Illuminator' * from La Mer. I love mixing the product with concealer to make the eye area shine.
But it can also be worked directly into the foundation to give the make-up a subtle shimmer.
Small beauty tip, if you apply the highlighter very lightly to the cheek area or the collarbone, you get a gently shiny look on the skin. "
False eyelashes
Extreme eyelashes go with every make-up and complexion, as Marc Jacobs Beauty proves

For several seasons, the eyebrows have been touted as the most important element to emphasize on the face.
Chris Schild, national make-up artist at Marc Jacobs Beauty, sees this trend as outdated and instead relies on doll-like eyelashes:
“My mother used to work velvet particles into the mascara to recreate the effect of glued-on eyelashes.
This is no longer necessary today.
I have a tip for those who love long and defined eyelashes: use two different mascaras.
First one that gives length and fullness - like the 'Velvet Noir' by Marc Jacobs *.
The 'At Lashd' * should be used as the second layer, the specially shaped brush ensures that all lashes are captured and look longer - like a mascara with an extension effect. "
Better than any blush
Instead of classic blush, you should use one with a highlighter effect, like here in the Chanel campaign

If you often use too much with liquid rouge and are not used to bronzing powder, you can probably make friends with this hybrid, says Martin Schmid, national make-up artist at Chanel:
“My tip for a perfect complexion is a touch of the powder 'Les Chaines des Chanel' *.
It combines highlighter and rouge in one product and is easy to apply.
Simply use the included brush applicator to brush outwards from the highest point of the cheekbones.
The subtly rosy-bronze nuance makes even the pale winter skin immediately look lively and fresh. "
The right red for the lips
A rosé tone is particularly suitable for light complexions, while dark red is especially suitable for olive complexions.
But finding the right shade is difficult now that the shops are closed.
With special undertones, however, the beauty brand Hourglass has managed to ensure that all of their red tones suit every skin tone.
Marc Reagan, Hourglass Global Director Education, recommends these:
“The refillable lipstick 'Confession' from Hourglass * is available in different colors that can be adapted to the occasion.
'At Dusk' * is a pretty redcurrant tone, while 'At Dawn' * is a darker rosé.
If you really want to stand out, use the tone 'At Night' *, a beautiful, bright brick red. "

Express look with red glitter
Red eyeshadow doesn't look sickly when combined properly, as the Il Makiage expert advises

Paloma Gia Rodriguez, beauty expert at Il Makiage, has a tip for everyone who has little time for their make-up on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve but still wants to dare to do something extraordinary:
“One of the big trends of winter are strong eyeshadow tones like red and copper and lots of glitter.
If you apply the 'Color Boss Eyeshadow' by Il Makiage in the color 'Red Bottoms' to the eyes and even in a thin layer on the cheeks, you get a quick, festive look.
You can also dab the eyeshadow over the lipstick, which creates an extraordinary, metallic look. "
Against pale winter complexion
The powder should be applied generously over the cheeks, forehead and bridge of the nose, advises the expert at Bobbi Brown

If you don't want to buy a special “glow” cream, you can create one yourself with a highlighter at home.
Agnes Hesselbach, Bobbi Brown National Make-up Artist, reveals how:
“There is a little trick that 'wakes up' the skin again.
I always take my day cream and mix it with a little bit of my Bobbi Brown 'Highlighting Powder' *.
To do this, I scrape something off the powder surface, mix it with the cream and voilà, I have a great moisturizer for glowing skin.
Alone or with make-up on top - this is how the skin simply looks naturally radiant! "
Metallic lids and red lips with mask
If you already have a glitter eyeshadow, you can use a simple trick to intensify it for the holidays.
The metallic lids go wonderfully with red lips - which don't necessarily have to rub off on the mask.
Norman Pohl, Dior's International Pro Team Make-up Artist, knows how:
“For sparkling highlights on the eye, simply moisten an eyeshadow brush and then put a gold or silver eyeshadow - like the '5 Couleurs 549 Golden Snow' - directly on the lid.
The moisture makes the eyeshadow much shinier, more pigmented and metallic.
In order to be able to wear the beloved red lips with a mask, simply dab a red powder blush directly onto the lipstick like with an eye shadow brush.
This sets the lipstick in place immediately and makes it durable.
