A 42-year-old doctor is said to have assaulted a 36-year-old patient in a hospital in Gütersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia.
The doctor is on remand on suspicion of rape, as the Bielefeld public prosecutor and the Gütersloh police announced on Friday.
The police had learned of the alleged sex offense late Tuesday evening and arrested the 42-year-old on Wednesday night.
"The intensively conducted investigations in this criminal case continue," said the authorities.
The investigators initially did not provide any further details.
