On December 18, the earliest confirmed Ba cultural site in China, the Dongsunba site in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing City, released phased archaeological results.

Starting from September 2020, a joint archaeological team formed by the Chongqing Cultural Heritage Research Institute and the Jiulongpo District Cultural Relics Management Office has carried out active archaeological excavations on the site.

A number of representative tombs were cleared in the excavation area. A total of 28 tombs and 1 brick kiln were found. The main remains are the Ba culture tombs from the late Warring States Period to the early Western Han Dynasty.

Up to now, the archaeological team has cleaned 4 ship coffin burials, 11 rectangular earth pit tombs, 1 square earth pit tomb, and 1 brick chamber tomb. The age covers the late Warring States period, Qin, early Western Han, and Xinmang period. During the stage, unearthed bronze wares (including bronze swords, bronze spears, bronze yues, bronze suns, copper kettles, copper retorts, copper cuts, coins), pottery (clay pots, pots, pottery beans, pottery pots, pots, etc.) There are more than 200 pieces (sets) of various cultural relics such as, colored glassware, ironware (iron metal, iron sword).

It is worth noting that this is the first scientific and systematic archaeology and research work on the Dongsunba site in Chongqing after the rescue archaeological excavation on the Dongsunba site in the 1950s.
