"We have talked a lot about Netflix for 3-4 years, and we did not see coming behind Amazon, which has almost all French customers, and giants like Disney which has the largest catalog in the world in terms of content. . "

"They must finance the creation"

According to the Director General, this European delay poses a problem, in particular on the issue of funding for cultural creation.

"For us, it is vital because many composers today make a living from what is called music in images, that is to say, music for films and TV series", indicates- he does.

"SACEM is also the authors of dubbing and subtitling."

Despite its delay, the negotiations that the Ministry of Culture piloted Thursday with all professionals in the sector, streaming platforms included, is therefore good news.

"These are platforms with which we are already negotiating and with which we have contracts for them to pay copyright," recalls Jean-Noël Tronc.

"What matters is that they also pay for the creation."

This point is the central object of the ministerial negotiation.
