In the precincts of a Zen temple in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, "Dried radish" is being held in which radishes received by monks in pots are hung on Ichounoki.

At "Enfukuji" in Yawata City, a priest visits local farmers every year at this time of year in a pot as part of his training, and hangs about 1,200 radishes received on trees.

On the morning of the 17th, in the severe cold weather, about 10 monks warmed up with a bonfire and used pulleys and ropes to gather several radishes on a large lantern tree about 15 meters high in the precincts. I hung it.

After drying the radish in the sun for about a month, it is soaked for 1 to 3 years and used for the devoted dishes of the monks and served to worshipers.

Mr. Daiki Miyata, a monk, said, "It was a harsh cold, but I didn't mind while I was absorbed in the work. I want to do my best not to waste the precious radish I received." I did.

The work will take place over the 18th, which means that the fallen strawberry trees will be filled with white radishes.
