Even with corona vaccinations coming soon, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) considers distance and hygiene rules to be indispensable for many months to come.

"Just because we start vaccinating very soon after Christmas, that doesn't mean that all the rules are no longer necessary," said Spahn on Wednesday in the RTL / ntv interview.

"We will also need these rules well into next year."

Only when a vaccination quota of 55 to 65 percent of the population is reached can further lockdown measures be ruled out, said Spahn.

The first "five million vaccinations" would not be enough.

A return to normality can be expected from the summer “step by step”.

In an interview, the minister appealed to the population to get vaccinated: "In my opinion, it is a matter of common sense to get vaccinated," he said.

"It is sensible for oneself, because it protects and, above all, helps to avoid the most difficult processes and it is sensible as part of the community, as part of society, as part of a family, because you can also protect others with it."
