China News Service, Hangzhou, December 16 (Jiang Yangye) On December 16, the reporter learned from the Hangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Zhejiang Province, that an ancient spring and autumn period was discovered in Qiujiawu Village, Huayuan Town, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. At the site of the kiln, a hard pottery altar with printed patterns and a large number of original porcelain pieces were unearthed.

It is understood that this ancient kiln site is of great value for studying the development of the kiln industry in Xiaoshan area during the Shang and Zhou dynasties.

Evolution Town is an important production area of printed hard pottery and primitive porcelain during the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period. There are currently more than 20 kiln sites including Maowanli kiln site, Shamaoshan kiln site, and Anshan kiln site.

The discovery of the kiln site further enriched the kiln site information in this area.

According to preliminary investigations, the ancient kiln site was a kiln site where printed hard pottery and primitive porcelain were fired together during the Spring and Autumn Period.

The site of the kiln is about 5 meters long, and the cultural accumulation layer is about 40 to 50 cm thick. There are unearthed hard pottery pieces with printed patterns, original porcelain pieces and red burnt clay.

According to the staff of the Cultural Station of Huanhuan Town, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, although some of the kiln sites have been destroyed, judging from the soil layers on the site, the pottery pieces are very densely packed in the soil, and many pottery pieces are printed with neat patterns.

Yang Jindong, deputy researcher of the Hangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, said that the printed hard pottery altars in the Spring and Autumn Period have characteristics of the times, with a rice screen pattern on the top and a grid pattern on the bottom.

The porcelain in this ancient kiln site has such characteristics.

"It is preliminarily judged that this is the site of a kiln during the Spring and Autumn Period, and the porcelain and pottery fired from it were used by the people of Vietnam."

Currently, the site of the kiln site has been protected, waiting for further archaeological excavations.

It is reported that in the next step, the Hangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology will conduct a further exploration and investigation of the kiln site to determine its scope and scale.
