China News Service, Zhuhai, December 16 (Deng Yuanwen and Chen Xi) Gongbei Customs announced on the 16th that since the return of Macao 21 years ago, the total value of imports and exports from the Mainland to Macau through Gongbei Customs exceeded 290 billion yuan (RMB, the same below).

In the first 11 months of this year, the value of imports and exports to Macao through Gongbei Customs was 12.57 billion yuan, of which 12.28 billion yuan was exported and 290 million yuan was imported.

  According to statistics from Gongbei Customs, in the 21 years since Macao's return, the scale of imports and exports from the Mainland to Macao via Gongbei Customs has increased significantly. The scale of imports and exports in 2019 was 4.6 times that of 1999.

In addition, general trade replaced processing trade as the main mode of trade, private enterprises replaced foreign-invested enterprises as the main trade body, and mechanical and electrical products replaced clothing as the main export products to Macau.

  As an important hub connecting the Mainland and Macau, Gongbei Customs continues to play an important role in ensuring the livelihood of Macau’s people.

In the first 11 months of this year, the Gongbei Customs exported 71,000 tons of natural gas, 4.43 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, and 88.753 million tons of agricultural products to Macau.

Among them, 75,000 tons of vegetables were exported to Macau via Gongbei Customs, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%, and 23,000 tons of fresh and dried fruits and nuts were exported to Macau via Gongbei Customs, a year-on-year increase of 39.2%.

  In addition, on August 16 this year, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge-Zhuhai-Macau freight channel was officially opened, becoming another important channel for economic and trade exchanges between the mainland and Macau. Guangdong-Macao trucks can be used for 24-hour "one-stop" customs clearance.

As of the end of November this year, the total value of imports and exports to Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was 2.59 billion yuan.
