The German health authorities have sent the
Robert Koch Institute
(RKI) 14,432 new cases and 500 deaths within one day, as the RKI announced on Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday the previous week, 14,054 new infections and 423 deaths were reported.
However, due to a technical error, the data from Saxony on Monday was missing.
The highs of
29,875
reported cases and 598 deaths were reached on Friday.
Tuesday's 500 deaths marks the third highest figure since the pandemic began.

The nationwide
seven-day R-value
was 1.06 according to the RKI management report on Monday (previous day: 1.12).
This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 106 more people.
The value represents the occurrence of the infection eight to 16 days ago.
Only when it is below one for a long time does it decrease.
At the district level, only eleven districts across Germany currently have an incidence of less than 50. The
city of Rostock
is currently the least affected by Corona
(16.7).
In North Friesland (25.9) and Uelzen (28.1), too, the infection rate is within a comparatively controllable framework.
