The cast of the

Game of Thrones

prequel is

gradually expanding.

The project, dubbed

House of the Dragon

, will tell the story of the illustrious House Targaryen (Khaleesi's ancestors, Daenerys Targaryen, in the original George RR Martin series and novels), is only at the beginning of its development, but four of the main roles have been assigned.

In addition to Paddy Considine, already announced in the role of King Viserys Targaryen, Emma d'Arcy will play her eldest daughter, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Matt Smith her younger brother in the role of Prince Daemon Targaryen.

Fire will reign.

Beautiful people

If the details on

House of the Dragon

are still few, fans of

Game of Thrones

, or rather the literary saga

A Song of Ice and Fire

, already know what the plot will tell.

George RR Martin, credited as co-creator of the program, revealed that the plot would follow the "Dance of the Dragons," the civil war between Prince Aegon and his half-sister Rhaenyra for the succession of their father, Viserys Targaryen, first of the last name.

The events therefore take place almost 300 years before the plot of the first TV adaptation of the novels.

While the author has still not finished the sixth volume - highly anticipated - of his saga, he took the time in 2018 to release

Fire & Blood

, a book conceived as a historical work on the Targaryens, in which he tells the details of this bloody conflict that has lastingly affected Westeros, the imaginary world it created.

Beware, therefore, of potential spoilers!

No release date has yet been announced for

House of the Dragon

, whose first season will consist of 10 episodes.

We just know that the filming of the series will begin in 2021 and for broadcast, at best, in 2022.
