  • Has BFMTV been caught in the act of "disinformation"?

  • This is what many Internet users claim, reproaching him for having said that a bloodied protester, visible in his images of the Parisian procession, Saturday, December 12, was in fact "made up".

  • The continuous news channel, however, admitted a few hours later that the man had been injured by the police, citing "erroneous information" and apologizing.

"BFMTV caught in the act of fake news [in] claiming that the injury of a man […] is makeup while videos posted on social networks show the man being beaten", "The palm of disinformation indecent of the day returns to BFM where we dare to claim that this man brutally clubbed while he was playing music wore makeup… Shame ”

Saturday December 12, at the end of the afternoon, the multiple arrests made by the police within the Parisian demonstration against the law "global security" were not the only subject of indignation of certain Internet users on Twitter.

Many were offended to see the continuous news channel assert, around 3:30 p.m., that a man filmed live with his face bloodied, while he was playing the drum in the procession, was not really injured. .

"It's makeup"

A few minutes after one of the journalists on the set initially said cautiously "We don't know what happened, we have to be careful", his colleague added: "It's makeup, we reassure you. .

For the moment, no injuries ”.

However, other videos filmed that afternoon and broadcast on social networks show that the man was injured by the police ... as BFMTV relayed afterwards, by admitting his mistake - a mea culpa which however seems to have escaped several Internet users.

FAKE OFF

The images filmed by Brut journalist Rémy Buisine during his live video show precisely the moment when the drummer receives blows in the face.

He later confirmed to her - after the blood was wiped from his forehead - that he had been injured by a baton, as can be seen below.

During a police charge, a demonstrator with a drum was injured by a baton in the face visible on my images (during my live on @brutofficiel).

Around 6.30 p.m., a few hours after having spoken of “make-up”, BFMTV admitted, both live and on social networks, that it was wrong: “During the demonstration this Saturday in Paris, BFMTV broadcast live the images of 'a protester with a bloody face.

It was mentioned that it was makeup due to misinformation.

It was not: this man was indeed beaten by the police.

The channel, in addition to apologizing, collected the testimony of the protester in question, Morgan, who explained to him: “I was playing when it happened.

When they charged, of course, I stepped back, I was in a defensive posture, we will say, but that was not enough […].

They could well have done something else, but they typed anyway.

It's fun, what.

"

At the end of the demonstration, which gathered 10,000 demonstrators according to its organizers, several associations and unions denounced “arbitrary arrests” among the nearly 150 arrests announced by the police.
