Recently, the People's Court of Baohe District, Hefei City, Anhui Province opened a court to hear the case of throwing objects at height. The defendant was sentenced to three years in prison for three years of probation for the crime of endangering public safety by dangerous means.
Things started in August this year. On the evening of August 13, when the citizen Xiao Chen passed by the entrance of an apartment building in Baohe District after get off work, an electric rice cooker suddenly fell upstairs and almost hit it.
After receiving the alarm from Xiao Chen, the third criminal police team of Baohe Public Security Bureau immediately carried out investigations. Since the apartment building has 30 floors, the specific house number of the thrown object could not be determined at the moment. The police knocked on the door from house to house to inquire about the investigation and finally found it Suspect Pan Mou.
After investigation, when Pan was cooking in the house at 6 o'clock that night, because of the unsatisfactory life and work, the pressure, the mood was depressed and irritable, so he threw the rice cooker he was cooking on the floor of the living room and then opened the room. The door, threw the rice cooker from the 13th floor through the window of the public corridor.
Pan confessed to the fact that he used dangerous methods to endanger public safety, and he regretted the bad influence caused by throwing the rice cooker down from the high building due to his bad mood.
The Baohe District People’s Court of Hefei City held that the facts that the public prosecution agency accused the defendant Pan of the crime of endangering public safety by dangerous methods are clear, the evidence is reliable and sufficient, the charges are convicted, and the sentencing recommendations are appropriate and should be adopted.
According to relevant laws and regulations, the defendant Pan was sentenced to the crime of endangering public safety by dangerous means and sentenced to three years in prison with three years suspended.
The police reminded that throwing objects at high altitudes can cause many hidden safety hazards and also pose a great threat to the personal safety of others. Serious throwing objects at high altitudes will be held criminally responsible.
