Chinanews.com, Chongqing, December 11 (Reporter Zhong Yi) The reporter learned from the “Cultural Relics Protection at the Grassroots Level” (Chongqing) theme publicity campaign organized by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage on the 11th that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the archaeological work in Chongqing has been further consolidated And strengthened the overall situation of the Three Gorges follow-up archaeology, active archaeology, and infrastructure archaeology "three arrows together".

The city will do a good job in the protection and activation of large archaeological sites in the future, including speeding up the construction of the Three Gorges Archaeological Site Park, which is expected to be basically completed during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

Data shows that in the past five years, Chongqing has completed 391 archaeological projects in total, including 12 active archaeology, 53 follow-up archaeology of the Three Gorges, and 326 infrastructure archaeology. The linear survey was 4683.45 km, and the area survey was 241.48 km2. 168,485 square meters, with about 37,000 unearthed cultural relics and specimens per set.

According to Bai Jiujiang, director of the Chongqing Cultural Heritage Research Institute, the archaeological gains in Chongqing during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period include archeology of city sites, archaeology of Ba culture, archaeology of religion and cave temples, archaeology of ancient industries, and archaeology of science and technology.

A major part of the archaeology of Chongqing's large relics is the protection and utilization of the relics of the Song-Mongolian war.

The Chongqing Cultural Heritage Research Institute is responsible for carrying out archaeological work on more than 10 sites represented by Chongqing Hechuan Diaoyu City and Fengjie Baidi City.

Bai Jiujiang said that in the past five years, the research institute’s excavation work has revealed a number of important remains such as city gate walls, weapon pits, and government office sites, and gradually clarified the archaeological concept of the large relics of the mountain city defense system. The construction of the walls, defense system, and internal layout of the Mongolian Mountain City have a clearer understanding.

It is worth mentioning that the related archaeological discoveries have filled the gaps in archaeology in the region and even in the historical period of China. For example, the iron mines found in Baidi City and Diaoyu City are the earliest gunpowder objects and the most complete iron objects found in Chinese archaeology. The physical artillery is a precious testimony to the era when China's hot and cold weapons coexisted and the beginning of explosive firearms.

When talking about the integration of cultural relics and tourism, Bai Jiujiang mentioned that in order to further protect and make good use of the high-quality cultural heritage of the Three Gorges reservoir area, Chongqing will rely on the follow-up work of the Three Gorges to plan the “Three Gorges National Archaeological Site Park Group” project, focusing on The prehistoric culture, Ba culture, landscape city culture and other themed cultural heritages of the Xiajiang area are planned to invest 1.1 billion yuan to focus on the construction of Longgupo in Wushan County, Baidi City in Fengjie County, Tiansheng City in Wanzhou District, Huanghua City in Zhong County, and Liangjiang New District 10 archaeological site parks including Duogong City and Panshi City in Yunyang County. This move will strengthen the protection, inheritance and promotion of the Yangtze River culture.
