These are the decisive hours for the

unblocking of European aid to face the serious crisis caused by the coronavirus

.

The Twenty-seven have been preparing for weeks to receive the funds and, above all, to manage them.

In Spain, we are unfortunately faced with

a government that exclusively assumes control

, something that, as we publish today, is far from what is going to happen in almost the entire continent.

Most countries have either established control mechanisms, so necessary

sarios, or bodies and independent technical advisory committees to their Executives.

We are talking about

an unprecedented mobilization of public money that represents a monumental administrative challenge

.

And it is not just a matter of achieving enough speed in the distribution and that the most suitable projects are financed; a lot of transparency is also essential,

accountability

and that, finally, the evaluation is possible so that the citizen knows what the money is being spent on and if the objectives are being met. If you look back, Spain cannot breastfeed for the management of community aid.

And now

It is not only surprising, but worrying, that Sánchez will control everything by himself with his ministers

, Herculean task that arouses logical misgivings.

Especially because in a country as decentralized as ours, and seeing how the General State Budgets have been negotiated, showering the independence movement with perks, one can fear the worst in the distribution, which must be done according to equitable and reasonable criteria and not to reward or punish with partisan and sectarian criteria.

Of course, it does not say anything good that Sánchez wants to play king midas with the help of Brussels.

And even less after what happened barely two weeks ago, when Moncloa had to go from an alleged inter-ministerial commission made up of the holders of government economic portfolios to which, finally, it will be the full Council of Ministers who also sits in the commission that distributes community funds.

And this because

Iglesias, after feeling ignored, forced Sánchez to twist his neck

.

The war that Podemos waged to co-decide the distribution of the slices says everything about how Moncloa understands these aid from Brussels and the management of public money.

Even though

Carmen Calvo

believe that they belong to no one, they belong to all citizens.

And it can be very expensive for some to consider that they are there to pay for their spree and not to

clean up the economy, modernize it and make it more competitive

, which inevitably happens to undertake the most urgent structural reforms. For weeks that business and employers like technology demand an agency to execute European funds and that aid is not only in the hands of the Government.

Such instruments have already been created in several EU countries.

Let's hope that Sanchez does not end up happening like Midas, who turned against his great power

.

Because in that case those who would pay it would be all Spaniards.
