The stage of the fashion designer's selection of suitable materials for his new innovations, and the selection of colors and graphics to suit his collection, can be fun, but at other times, he transforms them completely into paintings painted with his brush, and turned into special, very personal and close prints, making of those Raw materials are the main idea of all pieces, and this is what Emirati fashion designer Feryal Al Bastaki did, through the "artist" group.

Love of feathers and colors, complete unification with painting, and coming up with a special artwork, is one of Feryal's hobbies, but through this collection she decided to combine her hobby, which she excelled in distinctively, with fashion design, transforming her paintings into digitally printed materials, and from there to designs A woman who adorns her, which she achieved through the "artist" group based on three paintings drawn between 2018 and 2019, in addition to a picture she took on her smartphone.

Strong link

"I chose the name of the artist for the group, because all the prints that decorate the fabrics are originally paintings that I personally painted in watercolor, and they are three paintings: Barjeel, Al-Zuharah, Ausha, in addition to Al Ghafah," Faryal Al Bastaki told Emirates Today.

She added that “each of the paintings that I drew has a very strong connection to it, and all of them depend and are distinguished by the presence of a local link, especially since the designer is famous for her keen tendency to put touches of the Emirati environment in her designs, which is one of the most important things that highlights her innovations regardless of the different groups, whether in names Paintings, or the elements that enter it, or the relationship between them and the memories of the designer and her personal inclinations.

Local spirit

Faryal explained that “the first design is based on a painting that she called (Barjeel), due to the fact that some of the drawings and lines in it are gypsum works, which can be seen in the old heritage houses decorated with barges in Al Fahidi neighborhood in Dubai, which is one of the inspiring areas for me, and I also added to the painting Also a touch of Mohammedan roses, those that are strongly and clearly linked to our lives and memories, so our homes are not devoid of it, so I decided to shine light on these beautiful roses.

And she continued: “Roses are one of the factors that a woman cannot do without, whether in life or in clothes. There is a great link between women and roses, which makes me tend to always draw them.” She pointed out that the second painting was called “The Vase,” and it is the other. Mainly for roses.

Ousha

The Emirati designer expressed her intense love, and her closeness to the poems of the late Emirati poet Ausha bint Khalifa Al-Suwaidi (Arab Girl), and being the first poet on her favorite poets list: “I always read, repeat and listen to her poems, and my daily routine is not without the routine of reading pages of her poetry, It is a special link between me and her words that I cannot explain, so I chose in this painting, besides the caftan, to combine my drawings of the roses of anemones with writing verses from her poem (pure intention) ».

"Al Ghafa"

In addition to roses, barajeel and poems from one of the most famous Emirati poets, the designer also chose another local symbol that has an emotional impact on her, "Ghafa", standing alone in the Al Qudra district in Dubai.

She said, “It is the only tree that I always go to and sit under its shade when I visit the region, and it was also the reason for me to come out with a number of previous fashion collections, as this slave was my inspiration and my friend, and I often feel that it (my sleep), and I chose to transfer her picture that I took through My phone turned into a painting that was digitally processed and turned into black and decorated with materials. ”

simplicity

Faryal Al Bastaki did not go out in this small group of silk crepe fabric, which has a light texture and havha, which she decorated with digital printing of her paintings, while she preferred to focus on simple and practical cuts, away from the oppression that seemed appropriate and this period in which we live in light of the global pandemic, and what He succeeded us psychologically and socially, as everyone now tends to search for quiet, elegant, comfortable and not exaggerated pieces and designs, suitable for home and small family gatherings, away from evening and party designs that we no longer need now ».

She indicated that she preferred to provide practical and simple pieces as well.

Accessories

In addition to the wide and loose caftans, Emirati designer Feryal Al Bastaki presented, in "the artist", a set of "T-shirts" and "polo shirts", which she used to print on the image of "Al Ghafa", in addition to printing her paintings on a set of practical and friendly bags. For the environment known as "tote" bags.

She emphasized that "it has been very popular, especially among university students. It is suitable for study or work, and it can also be adopted for beach trips."
