Due to the persistently high number of corona infections, the city of Passau and the district of Regen in Lower Bavaria are expanding the exit restrictions that apply there.

As the city announced on Friday, the rules applicable in Passau will be extended by one week up to and including December 11th.

Mayor Jürgen Dupper (SPD) decided that after voting with the parliamentary group leaders in the city council and the Corona crisis team.

Dupper had already spoken out in favor of extending the restrictions on Thursday in view of the continued high number of infections.

Among other things, people are only allowed to leave their homes for a valid reason.

This also applies from Saturday to around the clock for the residents of the Regen district, as the district office announced on Friday.

So far, the rules only applied during the night.

According to the local health department, the incidence as of Friday was 502.

The Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) reported 482.9 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week for the district on the same day (as of 2 p.m.).

Both values ​​were thus higher than in all other districts and cities in Bavaria. 

The situation in Passau has also been dramatic for days.

According to the LGL, the incidence on Friday (as of 2 p.m.) was 482.9.

The city of Nuremberg (395.3) and the districts of Freyung-Grafenau (353.5) and Passau (341) were also above the limit of 300.

There are also strict exit restrictions.

In Passau, the existing rules will be tightened in one point with the extension: In the future, employees in homes and hospitals will have to be tested for Corona three times a week instead of once a week.

Mayor Dupper spoke on Friday of a "very high level of infection" in some facilities, this must be "managed even better".
