It's been a year since Tetsu Nakamura, a doctor who has been working on humanitarian assistance for many years in Afghanistan, was shot dead.

At my alma mater, Kyushu University, a half-mast was raised in memory.

Tetsu Nakamura, a doctor who has been involved in humanitarian assistance and reconstruction for many years in Afghanistan as a local representative of Fukuoka's NGO "Peshawar-kai" (73 at the time), shot at someone in the eastern state of Nangarhar on December 4, last year. And died.

On the 4th, the anniversary of his death, a half-mast was raised in memory of Mr. Nakamura at his alma mater, Kyushu University.

In addition, the people concerned gathered at the "Peshawar-kai" office and offered a silent prayer at 0:30 pm when they were informed of the shooting a year ago.

Members of the Peshawar-kai are working on creating guidelines for the construction of irrigation canals, inheriting the wishes of Mr. Nakamura, who created an irrigation canal in Afghanistan and worked to transform the dried land into a lush green land.

The Japanese version of the guideline is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, and will be translated into English and distributed to local engineers.

Chiyoko Fujita, who was involved in the creation of the guidelines, said, "I think it will be very encouraging for the people of Afghanistan. I feel that it is" hope "itself."
