  • Marseille singer Tayc is nominated for the 2020 NRJ Music Awards in the French-speaking Revelation of the Year category.

  • This nomination comes to the end of a crazy year for the artist, who has had a dazzling success in particular with his tube “Don't think more”.

“Frankly, I have a little trouble realizing what is happening to me.

And we can understand that.

At only 24 years old, Julien Bouadjie, better known under the name of Tayc, is experiencing a meteoric rise.

Even before the release of his first album, scheduled for December 4, the Marseille singer literally invaded the airwaves with “N'y mind plus” and his iconic “Yimmy” repeated on a loop, which in the space of weeks became one summer hits.

Streamed more than 30 million times, this first platinum certified single reached the top 50 worldwide on Shazam.

And this, just a few months after the artist filled the Olympia, in February, in just five days.

The culmination of a year of madness for the young Marseille, Tayc finds himself nominated Saturday, the day after the release of his first album "Cold Flower", at the NRJ Music Awards, in the category "Francophone Revelation of the Year , Alongside music stars like Soolking.

“When I heard that, I was really shocked,” he recalls.

Me, I am a big kid of television.

I grew up with all these shows.

I didn't miss one.

And now, will they see me in it?

I'm going through something crazy.

"

"I was hiding to sing"

The young Tayc has in fact long dreamed of music, to the point of familiarity with this dream when he left Marseille to settle in Paris, at only 16 years old.

“It was from that moment that it was palpable for me,” he explains.

When I was in Marseille, it was complicated.

Back then, singing when you were a boy, when there was rap everywhere around, was not the best thing to do.

So I was hiding to sing.

"

And to confide: “I listen to everything because I think there is a science behind every sound that works.

For years, I've had my head in the handlebars.

With my team, we don't take the time to look up.

I run a marathon all the time.

There, at the moment, I sleep very little.

We want to do so well, we are so hard on ourselves, we have no hindsight.

With the NRJ Music Awards, we landed and said we had come a long way.

"

"I was punished"

In six years, the Marseillais has indeed chained the mixtapes and collaborations, in particular with Dadju, to whom he is often compared, because of his “afrolove” style and his love songs.

“This comparison for me is anything but demeaning,” he laughs.

It makes me kiff.

Better to be compared to the best.

And afrolove, with my voice, I couldn't see myself singing anything else.

"

In this thunderous journey, Tayc has only one regret.

"I was punished," he jokes, a little bitter.

I didn't have to deal with the success of my first single because due to the current situation, I have never heard the crowd shout my songs before.

Everything that God puts in your path, he does it in his soul and conscience, but it is a frustration that he has not yet been able to sing that sound on stage, in front of an audience.

"

In the meantime, the singer continues to whip, for fear of seeing the craze around him run out of steam.

“We don't care what I did before,” he said.

France is discovering me now.

Now is the time to give everything.

“Be reassured, the madness around Tayc still seems to be relevant.

Just released this Wednesday, his second single, "Comme toi", rose to the top of YouTube trends in a few hours.
