The atmosphere had been electric last weekend on the sidelines of the procession and had generated overflows in the Presqu'Ile.

To avoid an identical situation this Saturday, during the new demonstration against the “global security” law, the prefect of the Rhône issued a decree prohibiting any demonstration in the hypercentre of Lyon.

From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., any protest rally will be impossible this November 5 in a large area, covering the quai Jean-Moulin, the rue Puits-Gaillot, the place des Terreaux, the rue Constantine, the quais de la Pêcherie, Saint- Antoine, des Célestins, Tilsitt, rue Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

The southern Bellecour road, the place Antonin Poncet, the quai Gailleton, the quai Jules-Courmont, the rue Victor-Hugo and the place Carnot are also concerned, according to the State services.

Preserving businesses

Beyond security, the prefect, who calls on everyone to “have a sense of responsibility” to avoid any overflow, wishes to preserve the activity of shops.

The latter are betting on these pre-Holiday weekends to make up for some of the significant losses suffered due to the health situation and confinements.

To support them in this recovery, the prefecture has authorized all traders to open every Sunday in December in the Rhône.
