Former US Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton are ready to be vaccinated against the coronavirus in front of the camera.

Obama told SiriusXM radio that he was showing people "that I trust science".

He would be vaccinated "absolutely" if the renowned corona expert Anthony Fauci declared a vaccine to be safe and effective.

Bush's chief of staff, Freddy Ford, told CNN that the former Republican president would also be vaccinated in front of the camera to gain popular trust in the vaccinations.

"First, the vaccinations must be classified as safe and given to the population groups that have priority." Then Bush will line up for his vaccination and "gladly do it in front of cameras."

Clinton's spokesman Angel Urena told CNN the Democratic ex-president would also get vaccinated on television.

Clinton was US President between 1993 and 2001, his successor Bush also held office for eight years and was then replaced by Obama in 2009.

In the USA, the Mainz-based biotechnology company Biontech, together with the US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and the US company Moderna, have submitted applications for emergency approvals for their vaccines.

Approval could take place in the coming weeks.
