In three weeks, the number of virological tests for Covid-19 carried out in France has fallen by half, according to official data published on Thursday.

A decrease partly "compensated by the increase in load of antigenic tests", more rapid.

Between 23 and 29 November, around 1.1 million virological tests (RT-PCR) were carried out, against 1.4 million the previous week and 2.3 million in early November, indicates the Directorate of Research, Studies , evaluation and statistics (Drees).

"In three weeks, in a context of confinement, the number of RT-PCR tests has thus been halved", notes this service depending on the Ministry of Health.

200,000 antigenic tests per week

However, "this drop was partly offset by the increase in antigenic tests, the number of which would approach 200,000 in the last week of November," adds Drees.

As a result of this reduced volume, the time taken to obtain the results of PCR tests “have further reduced and reached the most favorable levels observed since last June”: “between 23 and 29 November, 71% of RT- tests Validated PCRs were taken within 24 hours (compared to 66% the week of November 16 to 22) ”.

The share of tests validated in less than 48 hours also increased slightly, to 95% against 93% the previous week.
