The man, who is a prominent figure in Finnish cultural life, is accused of human trafficking involving seven people.

The indictment also includes sexual offenses.

Two women are charged with aiding and abetting.

Some of the plaintiffs were minors at the time of the suspected crime and are women born between 1980 and the year 2000.

The man denies all allegations.

Recruited minors

The story was discovered after a review in the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

Young women and underage girls are said to have been lured to the man's cultural association where he had them living with him under sect-like conditions.

The preliminary investigation shows that girls and women were recruited to the business both to run it and to live with him, Yle writes.

A year ago, Kulturnyheterna interviewed one of the women who accused the man of sexual harassment.

When she was 17, she joined a cultural association after recovering from an addiction.

The association was run by the man who is now being prosecuted.
