What if a permit was needed to keep a pet?

This is what the Belgian association Sans Collier ASBL defends.

The objective: to fight against animal abuse.

In Wallonia, the French-speaking region of Belgium, the system was put in place on January 1, 2019. A bill to this effect was tabled by LREM deputies this summer in France, but it has not yet been registered with the agenda of the National Assembly.

Between January 2019 and September 2020, “there have already been 14 license withdrawals” in Wallonia, explains Sébastien De Jonge, director of the Sans Collier association.
