  • This Tuesday, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region announced a plan of 50 million euros to support traders still closed due to Covid-19.

  • Restaurateurs, hoteliers, caterers or even managers of nightclubs, sports halls and indoor leisure facilities will be able to benefit from this cumulative aid.

Some of his opponents will see in his dynamism and his repeated announcements a way of occupying the field and the topicality in the perspective of the regional elections.

Others will underline its determination to support economic players, within the framework of the competence of its community.

This Tuesday morning, LR president of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Laurent Wauquiez announced in Lyon a support plan of 50 million euros for traders in the territory hard hit by the crisis linked to the coronavirus.

The 40-year-old, little stingy in measures of all kinds since the start of the Covid-19, has thus decided to help establishments closed at least until January 20 by government decision.

“Restaurants, bars, hotels, caterers, sports halls, indoor recreation rooms, nightclubs… They were the first to undergo confinement and they are the last to be thought of for deconfinement.

They are losing the fruit of a lifetime's work and are only asking for one thing: to be able to work ”, underlined Laurent Wauquiez.

To support them, the region explained that it had built a plan in consultation with professionals from these sectors, several of whom were present alongside Laurent Wauquiez.

Among the support offered, traders will be able to benefit from “retroactive” support for all investments made since January 1, up to 25% and up to 5,000 euros.

Costs related or not to Covid-19.

Aid of 5,000 euros is planned for all investments linked to the development of take-away sales.

An envelope of 1,500 euros may also be granted for the development of online commerce.

Restaurants, bars, hotels, caterers, sports halls, nightclubs ... were the first to undergo confinement and are the last concerned by deconfinement.

They only want one thing: to be able to work.

"We haven't survived for nine months"

Finally, "a zero rate loan, up to 30,000 euros can be guaranteed by the region with a two-year grace period", specifies Laurent Wauquiez's office.

A loan which, however, is not considered the best solution by President LR for companies that are too weak and already in debt which would have difficulty repaying in the future.

"I prefer to put money to help them pass the course rather than to see them go unemployed having lost everything", insisted the president LR, whose support was greeted by the representatives of the hoteliers, restaurants, rooms sports and nightclubs.

"Without these aids, we would not survive and we have not survived for nine months, but we would prefer to work rather than to have aid", recalled Laurent Duc, hotelier in Lyon and president of the Umih ((Union des métiers and hospitality industries).

To avoid the announced death of thousands of businesses, this boss will participate next Monday in the regional demonstration of independents scheduled in Lyon to demand a partial or total reopening, depending on the establishment, in compliance with health rules.
