"History and Culture Exhibition" also opened at the same time.

  The landscape of farming and weaving is located in the northwest of the Summer Palace. It was built in the fifteenth year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1750). It is a unique garden landscape with a southern water town.

When Qianlong built the garden, the Weaving and Dyeing Bureau of the House of Internal Affairs, which specially weaves silk fabrics for the court, moved here, forming a garden scenic spot with rich life, simple and quiet scenery, and integrated into traditional agricultural mulberry production. Qianlong named it It is the "Plowing and Weaving Picture".

  In 1860, the British and French allied forces burned the Qingyi Garden (the predecessor of the Summer Palace), and the landscape of farming and weaving pictures was severely damaged. Since then, it has become the Kunming Lake Water Exercise School for the Qing Dynasty to train Manchu naval personnel.

After that, the function and ownership of the farming and weaving area changed several times, and eventually it became a factory building and living area, and the garden landscape was completely lost.

  In 1998, the Summer Palace recovered the farming and weaving map area. After expert argumentation and government approval, the comprehensive improvement project of farming and weaving map was implemented.

In September 2004, the farming and weaving map was officially opened; in 2019, the farming and weaving map was closed for renovation.

  After a year of upgrading and transformation, the rearranged "Cultivation and Weaving Landscape History and Culture Exhibition" was opened in the Water Exercise School of the Cultivation and Weaving Scenic Area that day. The exhibition area increased by 20% to 584 square meters.

  The exhibition has seven exhibition halls. Through a large number of exhibits, historical photos, historical paintings and precious historical archives, it tells the historical changes of the farming and weaving scenic area, and vividly shows the traditional Chinese farming and mulberry culture represented by farming and weaving.

The exhibition is divided into four major themes: the vicissitudes of farming and weaving pictures, the tragedy of Kunming Lake Water Exercise School, the reproduction of farming and weaving pictures, and the stone craftsmanship of the imperial gardens of the Qing Dynasty.

  The exhibition also relies on academic research, adding modern digital exhibitions, setting up two-dimensional code navigation, digital sand table dynamic projection, interactive projection of farming and weaving map memorabilia, interactive touch farm tools and other popular science interactive exhibitions, making the exhibition more vivid and close. Teenagers, to achieve the effect of entertaining and learning.
